Battles Grove

Battles Grove as a wooded area across from the Eagle Cliff on the east end of the Lake Road.

Eagles nested in the huge trees at Battles Grove, which explains the name given the bed and breakfast.

In 1946, Jennie Munger Gregory, shared a remembrance of camping at Battles Grove as a child in a huge tent with other founding family members from Geneva: Tuttles, Stephens, Foremans, Tullers and Turners.

The name “Battles” is like a variation on “Battel,” the family name of the original investors who purchased the lakeshore land from the Western Reserve Land Company.
