Morris Mendelssohn was a Youngstown attorney and investor who purchased land in the Breen allotment, between Katherine street and Log Cabin Drive, in the 1940s.
He hired John Coach, a Geneva contractor, to build eight “large, modern” cottages on the property. The cottages were completed in 1947.
