Lavelle, Jerry

According to his obituary of Feb. 3, 1950, former GOTL resident Jerry Lavelle owned a restaurant and hotel at the resort. The obituary did not name the businesses.

The 1935 Geneva City Directory identifies an A.G. Lavelle of Mapleton Middle Drive as the owner of The Cottage Restaurant, no address given. “Food that’s different” was the business’ slogan.

Lavelle moved to Cleveland “a few years ago” and died in the Soldier’s and Sailor’s Home in Sandusky for two years, before his death there. Survivors included his wife, Minnie, daughter Mary and three step-daughters and one stepson.

Minnie was listed a A.G. Lavelle’s spouse in the 1935 city directory.
