Miss Geneva on the Lake

In the summer of 1947, Miss Geneva-on-the-Lake, a bus owned by the Lake Road Transit Company, was officially christened with water from Lake Erie before starting its service between the resort and Ashtabula.

The celebration was held at the boundary line between the village and Saybrook Township. Murray Cook, the village mayor, declared that having the bus service would increase real estate values and help develop the community both as a resort town and year-around community.

The president of Ashtabula City Council, likewise predicted great things for the two communities. He said the large influx of both residents and vacationers along Lake Road between the harbor resort would ensure success for the bus line.
