Located on the east side of New Street, near the lakeshore, the L-Rae cottage was built by E.O. Munger, a cousin to Jennie Gregory of Grandview fame.
E. O. Munger also built the cottage to the north, the Gaetano lakefront guest house.
The L-Rae was named for Ellen Rae Ellis.
