Fright Zone

Fright Zone was a “haunted house” ride at Erieview Park, formerly Pera’s Kiddyland.

Youtube hosts several videos of this ride:

The ride featured several gruesome scenes, including a flying ghost, woman being sawed in half and a skeleton head that dangled in front of the car.

The ride was installed in 1979 and replaced the Haunted Pretzel House. It had 10 Allan Herschell cars and 540 feet of track.

Vandalism was always a problem with the ride and finally took its toll. A group known as the Dark House and Fun Ride, DAFE, from Vienna, Ohio, received permission to restore the ride. But then came the auction to liquidate the park in 2006. The ride was sold as a whole to an antique group from Toledo; from there, it passed to Conneaut Lake Park in Pennsylvania.
