Maple Acres

Located  1/2 mile south of the lake on Route 534, Maple Acres was a restaurant owned by Mrs. George Spies.

In addition to being known for her home-cooked meals, Mrs. Spies was aunt to Joe E. Brown, a very popular Hollywood film comedian in the 1930s and ’40s.

Mrs. Spies’ sister, Anna Brown, lived in Toledo and Mrs. Spies visited in the summer of 1946, the same year she opened the restaurant.
